ALISTAIR LOGAN
Over twenty years of movement training from such differing disciplines as Yoga, Aikido and Tai-Chi to Alexander Hiegel, Feldenkrais and Labhan dance inform Alistair’s teaching and practice. Alistair began teaching Yoga as an Artist in Residence at the University of California-Riverside. During this time he trained at the renowned Yoga Works, in Los Angeles, California, where he completed his first teacher training with creators Maty Ezraty and Lisa Walford. It was his great fortune to take his second training with Maty Ezraty and Chuck Miller. A unique experience that has never been repeated.
Alistair apprenticed Yoga Works’ original creators Maty Ezraty and Chuck Miller for two years. In their Mysore classes he learned the value of intention, the importance of the breath, the origin of the roots and movement from the core. Iyengar teachers who have had great influence in Alistair's practice and teaching range from Lisa Walford, Paul Cabanis, Aadil Paakival, Kofe Busia to Chris Stein and Manuso Manus. Jasmine Lieb’s and John Gaydos’ teaching of mature bodies and bodies in pain give Alistair great tools and even greater purpose. Richard Freeman's teaching continually inspires Alistair's understanding of yoga and he is eternally thankful to Heather Duplex. Alistair prostates to the memory of Sri K Patthabi Jois in appreciation and love.
Alistair Logan teaches a contemporary style of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga in the Krishnamacharya tradition. Creating a challenging and nurturing experience for all levels of practitioner, it is Alistair's continuing joy and pleasure share in the benefits of regular asana practice.
Sharing the healing powers of Yoga continually inspires and energizes Alistair.
“It is this inspiring spirit of yoga that unites us all”
Alistair is the co-founder and director of the Asana Room
CATHERINE MUNRO (EYRT)
Catherine began practicing yoga in 1989 while living in New York City. She spent several years exploring different yoga traditions with many master teachers, notably in the Iyengar tradition. Her exploration led to her passion for the Ashtanga practice, which she learned under the guidance of senior teachers Chuck Miller and Maty Ezraty. She has also studied with Ashtanga guru Sri. K. Patthabhi Jois in Mysore, India. Catherine was trained to teach at Yoga Works in Santa Monica, California, by the Teacher Training program creators Maty Ezraty and Lisa Walford. After teaching for Yoga Works for several years she began leading Teacher Trainings for Yoga Works in 2003. She continues to lead teacher trainings for Yoga Works Internationally. Catherine’s vinyasa based classes focus on physical alignment, intelligent sequencing and are infused with passion and inspiration for the practice of yoga. Catherine combines a tough-minded approach with genuine compassion and caring for the individual student. Her hope is that through the practice, students can learn to transition through some of life’s challenges with strength and introspection.
SKY HELLYAR
originally learned Ashtanga Primary series from a book as a means to heal and old injury, and quickly learned that there was more to “practice” than Asana. Having practiced and taught Ashtanga or Vinyasa Flow since 1999, through 2 pregnancies and motherhood, her primary goal with teaching is to share the bliss of a steady mind with as many students and teachers as possible. Her Ashtanga classes tend to the traditional approach of personalized adjustments. While Flow classes emphasize breath, fun, and encourage students to take responsibilty for their own practice as it shifts day to day.
Sky began practicing Ashtanga Yoga regularly in 1999. What began as a therapy to heal a shoulder injury became a way of life, a way to clarity, and a “constant” in a shifting world. Her practice currently consists of variations of Ashtanga and Vinyasa flow, and practicing off the mat as Mom. She brings to her teaching qualities of inner strength, joy, and personal awareness. Her ultimate goal is to see everyone honour themselves with a truly personal practice, on and off the mat. Rooted in joy may you grow toward the light.
